I believe you found your way here through the update text to Patreons for the launch of my first course, and information about the “founding members” group.
Now just one last thing that is only relevant for those that happen to have a lot of money, or know someone who does, and are very passionate about the future of beach volleyball as a sport, and quality of future beach volleyball training in the world:
I have invested many many years into developing my skills and understanding of this sport, as well as developing the Learn Beach Volleyball Fast-project. So far it has all been self-funded with my own money, time, “risking my future” by not pursuing a “real” career, etc, except of the about 2500 dollars that have been donated though Patreon throughout the years (thankfully, they saved my beliefs in this project through Covid when my life hit its lowest point.)
Covid was a rough time for me and this business, which to run, relied on a lot of international mobility (me being able to go and coach in more expensive countries part of the year, while spending other parts of the year in cheaper countries to make videos, private clients being able to travel to me, me being able to travel to private clients, etc, in order to slowly but surely build this project one step at a time while I still was able to pay rent and continue learning more about the sport.)
Before covid, the Youtube channel was 3x-ing in size every year. 100-300 subscribers one year. 300-1000 subscribers the next. 1000-3000 subscribers in 2019.
I was sure that in 2020 I was going to roughly triple again, and go from 3000 to 10000 subscribers, and that would be the start for online courses, creating income on a bigger scale, and so on. I was sure that 2020 was going to be the breakthrough year.
Instead, covid hit, and lasted for years, which over the years I have estimated caused direct and indirect losses of about 40,000 Euros for me and this business (and no, my business was too new to receive any meaningful amounts of government aid when governments were handing out money that were negatively affected by covid-restrictions.)
And not only that, it put me in situations where I had to deal with so many different things at the same time, that there was no time left over to make videos, continue growing the Youtube channel, and making sure that the business would have that breakthrough year. So 2020, that I thought was going to be the breakthrough year, became the start of the biggest catastrophe instead.
Ever since then, my personal need for being able to pay rent and food (I still, and throughout this time, have lived on a budget of about 1000 Euros per month everything included - I stay in cheap countries to increase the chances of this project becoming what it should become one day) has forced me to do a lot of other things than create Youtube videos and podcast episodes, which has stifled the growth of the project big time. We are now 6 years later and just about to break 9000 subscribers (instead of it happening in 2020 like I thought was going to happen), and on top of that, the Youtube algorithms have changed since pre-covid times, so subscriber count doesn’t even matter as much anymore.
I am not asking for pity - I have learned invaluable lessons in these years (that I’d probably never have learned without some major adversities hitting me), and become a fundamentally much much more robust person from all that has happened. All I am trying to do is explain the current situation, which will be solved in one way or another.
But I believe it to be a somewhat objective fact that the last 6 years have been pretty much a catastrophe for the online part of the Learn Beach Volleyball Fast-project.
What hurts my heart the most is when I meet people who recognize me, tell me they used to watch my videos and really like them, but then concluded that I must have stopped doing the project. When in reality I have worked harder than ever before to keep the project alive in these past 6 years - just that it hasn’t been visible to the outside.
Anyway. I am slowly rising from the ashes. I have developed skills and an understanding of the sport that is even more unique in the world than what I had before covid. I have finally created my first online course. I have a lot of Youtube videos in the pipeline that I believe will be even more mind-blowing to the beach volleyball world than my best pre-covid videos were.
All that is needed now is execution. Creation and distribution of the videos, getting the stuff out of my brain, onto organized, structurized, clear and amazing videos.
And here’s where I’ve realized, that I could make all of this happen faster (which would be good for both me, but also all followers who don’t want to wait years for promised gamechanging videos, as well as the broader beach volleyball world as a whole) if I paid a video editor to help me with certain parts of the editing - the time consuming parts that don’t strictly need to be done by me to still maintain the quality of instruction and structure.
So what I am looking for is something maybe a bit undefineable in the direction of an investor, money lender, or a donator for a good cause. I truly believe that the fast-tracking of my project would be an overall good cause for the beach volleyball world, but also for the world as a whole in terms of inspiring people to move more, live healthier lives, and enjoy their sports and movement more - therefore I do believe that if someone were to purely donate money to my project, that I in the long term could channel this money towards a bigger “positive dent in the universe” than many other charitable projects can.
I have 100% confidence that I can explain to someone a video call how donating money to my project would be better for the world than donating to some other charitable cause.
But I also have full understanding that it might be hard to find someone who believes that my project is a charitable enough case to donate money to freely. So another option I have been thinking of is to somehow borrow money, and pay it back slowly (or fast once online course sales start taking off), but having access to the money now, allowing me to upscale my production speed already today.
Even 5000-10,000 USD in donation or loan would make a massive difference. I estimate my video-editing help needs to be around 1000 USD per month, and being able to invest into that for 5-10 months would already make a big difference at a crucial time, as well as help me gain the skills of delegating work in a way where the production quality still doesn’t suffer - which will be a crucial skill for the future years of this project.
Would there be someone out there that would be open to the idea of a 30,000-50,000 USD (or bigger) loan/donation, that would be absolutely life-changing - I guess about as life changing (in reverse) as it was for me to take damages of roughly that amount during covid?
Anyway, I believe this is enough writing for now. If you’d be (or know someone) who happens to have both money and a big passion and hope for the future of beach volleyball (and human movement and health worldwide - I can explain more if we talk), please let me know and we should discuss further.
Also, if you hear my message, but don’t necessarily have the money, but can come up with something else that might help me that you believe I have not thought about, please let me know.
I am very open for ideas. I will not compromise the quality of instruction and attention to detail that my videos and my coaching has gotten known for (and to be honest most of the “optimization” strategies people suggest to me would compromise quality - there’s a reason nobody else has created videos like the ones I have created so far), but in general, I am very open for ideas that could help. So if you have them, please send them over to me.
