Important update for Patreons (First course and founding members group launch)

Hey, it’s Alex here with an important update in the progress taking Learn Beach Volleyball Fast to the next level! (Goal has always been, and is still to build out the most detailed, in depth and accurate beach volleyball instruction resource so far in history!)

If you are reading this, this means that you have donated money to me through Patreon before, which means you are one of the first people to get to know about what will happen next, and have an opportunity that others might never get. Also, as I promised before, you will be able to use any money you donated before as “credits” towards any online course related purchases in the project.

I’d highly recommend you read this text ASAP. But if for some reason right now isn’t the best time for you (let’s say you are just about to jump into your car to go to work, I know what it can be like!), then I’d recommend to at least set an alarm on your phone for later today, or tomorrow.. So when you have a few minutes over, you can come back here and make sure you don’t miss this (actually historical) opportunity!

OK, so what’s the plan?

For many years, my plan was to grow the Youtube channel to 10,000 subscribers, and then start creating my in-depth online courses. (We are now at almost 9000.)

That plan has not exactly changed, but been tweaked a little.

I realized that I’m not only going to make my super-in depth courses (that I am really passionate about creating sooner or later, and that I think if done right could even change the direction of how beach volleyball is taught around the world..?!), but that I will also create another series of courses, something that I will call the “unlocked” series.

The “unlocked” series will basically be shorter courses, where I teach only the parts of skills that really bring the maximum value in the shortest amount of time, for the majority of players.

So just to understand this better through an example, we can quickly look at my “serve receive unlocked”-course that I already went ahead and created (yes, you’ll soon get the chance to be among the first ones to access this!)

“Serve receive unlocked” contains about 2-3 hours of instructional content, with the key pieces of information that tend to give the most “bang for the buck” with my private clients for their serve receive. It’s stuff that no other coach really talks about (it’s based on stuff that I figured out through tons of experimentation and analysis of pros that I did out of desperation when I realized that listening to "normal” coaches didn’t help me get the serve receive I knew would be needed for me to reach elite levels of play), and is subset of what will be in my “in-depth serve receive course” one day, and it’s stuff that really makes the skill of receiving serves “unlock” for a lot of players.

If you have heard about the 80/20 rule or the Pareto principle, this is exactly what the “unlocked” courses are about, the 20% of the information that gives 80% of the results. In the serve receive course this means:

Serve receive unlocked course: 2-3 hours of information that helps lower intermediate (and higher) level players reach advanced level serve receive skills within a 2-3 weeks of focused and structured training. One could describe this as stuff that 95% of the players who are not “natural talents” at serve receive never learn even in 10 years of playing, training, taking lessons, attending camps (with world tour players and famous coaches coaching) and self-philosophising about the sport, learned in a few weeks instead.

I think my “tagline” is going to be: Serve receive unlocked - what weekend passing clinics wish they would be.

Compare that to:

“In-depth serve receive course: 8-12 hours (most probably, still to be created) of information that will help even beginner players go all the way to elite serve receive within a few months (potentially 1-2 years if a lot of gym work to rebuild the body is needed) of focused and structured training. One could describe this as stuff that 99% of players never learn even in 10-20 years of playing, training, taking lessons, attending camps (with world tour players and famous coaches coaching) and self-philosophising about the sport, learned in a few months instead.

I hope that you see that both types of courses have their own value, and a slightly different “ideal customer profile.” The in-depth courses are for the obsessive supernerds that simply have to get good at this sport (a few % of all players, you know who you are..), and the “unlocked” courses are for players that want to get better and are ready to work for it, but maybe their lives don’t quite depend on it.. So they want a slightly more “humane” approach to their learning/training, but still with high quality.

So in my dream vision, one day the Learn Beach Volleyball Fast-project will have at least these courses:

In-depth series: In-depth serve receive, In-depth setting, In-depth attacking, In-depth defense, In-depth blocking, In-depth serving, In-depth sports psychology.

“Unlocked” series: Serve receive unlocked (already created), Setting unlocked, Attacking unlocked, Defense unlocked, Serving unlocked.

Most probably there will be more courses too, but at least these.

Why does the “courses founding member priority launch” matter?

So as you might realize when reading this, creating all these courses is going to take a fair bit of work to create. You could even call it a big part of my life's work, because this is not taking up an insignificant amount of my time here on earth!

The question then becomes, in which order should I create the courses actually? Start with attacking, or is setting more important? If setting is more important, will it be the “unlocked” version or the “in depth” version??

I already took the decision to create the “serve receive unlocked” first, but in my list above there’s 11 more courses, so someone needs to decide what will be created first.

So here’s my idea: Once the Youtube channel reaches 10,000 subscribers, I plan to launch a “courses founding member” group where I will only accept 50 people. These 50 people will then for the rest of the time of the Learn Beach Volleyball Fast-project have a status that nobody else will ever have.

They will get:

1. Access to all courses that will ever be created throughout the Learn Beach Volleyball Fast project for a one time fee (the joining fee for the group.)

2. Voting rights for in which order I will create the courses. So every time I have finished the creation of yet another course in the project, the founding members will get to vote on which course I should go ahead and create next. So the interests and struggles of the founding members will steer the project in a sense, if for example most of the people who become founding members struggle mostly with setting, then a setting course will be created before other courses. 

(The only exception to me following what the founding member group will vote through, is if I for financial reasons decide that I believe changing the priority order is crucial for the survival of the project. For example if all founding members would have a heavy priority on the “in-depth” courses, but I see that the “unlocked” courses create way more revenue, in this case, if money is low I might in the short term decide to override the decisions of the founding members group, but I will try my hardest to avoid this situation and most probably it will never happen.)

3. These people will of course also get a kind of “legendary status” (the human beings that made this possible, because I alone cannot), and access to each other as a community of badass volleynerds... In my dream vision, once this project is a prosperous company that brings beach volleyball instruction to the world in a way that has never been seen before, I hope I can host training camps for this group only, even for free or very cheap, just as a celebration where we can look back, and see that we made this happen together!

So how does one make sure to become one of these 50 people one might ask?

The answer to that is simple, to be one of the 50 first people to sign up once the channel has reached 10,000 subscribers and I have launched this group. BUT, here is the important part:

The people who buy the “serve receive unlocked”-course now, will be the first people that will get the opportunity to join the “founders group” once it gets launched. And there will only be 50 spots in the founding members group.

This means, that if 50 or more people buy the “serve receive unlocked”-course within the next few months, the public might actually never get the opportunity to join the “founders member”-group. This means no post on Youtube, Instagram, etc.. Only “insiders” who already invested in the “serve receive unlocked” course will get the chance to join the founders group in this case.

Which means that it will work the same way as this particular communication works. You are reading this because you at one point decided to become a Patreon. Nobody except fellow Patreons will get to read this message, and get this opportunity before others.

So here’s the thing: I have already promised a few spots out of the 50 “founding members spots” to some people. So in reality there’s already a few of them gone. But there’s not nearly 50 Patreons, so if you are reading this message, this means that if you decide to buy the “serve receive unlocked course” now, you will be guaranteed the possibility to buy a “founding member” spot once they become available, because the first people that will get the opportunity to buy one of these 50 spots will be the ones that both have been Patreons at some point before June 2026, and bought the “serve receive unlocked”-course, and there will no matter what happens be less than 50 of these people.

After the “Tier 1” (Patreons before july 2026 who also bought the course) have gotten their  opportunity to buy a spot in the “founders member” group, “Tier 2” people will get their opportunity to buy their spot, after that “Tier 3”, “Tier 4”, etc. To not make this message super long, I’m not going to take the space to write out all the tiers here (since you have the chance to be in “Tier 1” anyway), but if you want the full details, you can go here to find them.

So, in summary:

If you have already donated more than 147 Euros through Patreon, all you need to do is tell me you are in, and you will be one of the first to get the “serve receive unlocked”-course, and you will be within the first tier of people to get to know about the “founders member” opportunity once it’s out, the only tier that will get a guaranteed window to join since it is the only tier that consists of under 50 people. The “founders member” opportunity will likely cost somewhere between 300-500 Euros, and any money you have donated in the past (including this 147 Euros for the serve receive unlocked course) can be counted towards this when the group launches.

Basically if you already donated over 147 Euros, there’s nothing you can lose by saying yes, except if you’d be a person who knows they will never watch an online course ever, and you’d want to use your donated money towards personal coaching with me instead.

If you have donated in total less than 147 Euros through Patreon, you can choose to get access to the SR-unlocked course now by letting me know that you want to pay the difference up to 147 Euros (you’ll get an individual payment link), and you will enjoy both first access to the SR-unlocked course, as well as be within the first tier of people getting the opportunity to join the “founding members” group. Of course, once you get that opportunity, your 147 Euros will be counted towards the price of the “founders member” group.

If you have donated in total less than 147 Euros through Patreon and decide not to pay the difference up to 147 Euros and buy access to the SR-unlocked course before the Youtube channel reaches 10,000 subscribers, or I for some other reason decide the launch the “founders member” group, you will unfortunately be in “Tier 2” of people who get the opportunity to join the “founders member” group. Tier 2 consists of more than 50 people, and there will only be 50 spots for the “founders member” group in total, so I cannot guarantee that you will have the opportunity to grab a spot. You would simply have to be one of the 50 first people to join, and technically all these spots could be taken within hours of me sending out the information about the “founders member” group to Tier 2.

Regardless of which group of the above you belong to, if you believe you will want to join the founders member group once it gets launched, I’d recommend you to have some savings of at least a few hundred Euros ready for the day you get the opportunity. The price for the group is not decided yet, but will most probably be somewhere between 300-500 Euros, so your price would be that, minus any money that you have donated via Patreon or bought the “serve receive unlocked”-course for.

Of course, if you already today know that you’d be 100% in for getting into the founders member group on the day that this will be launched, even if the price was 500 Euros, please let me know in a message - we can discuss how it would work logistically and I’ll guarantee you a spot already now.
